Mr. Z. M. Perkins was acquitted of a charge of unlawfully cutting and removing timber from the land of Charles Enmuth in the town of Grand Chute, WI.

Mrs. Persis Allen Cooper, widow of Dr. J. H. Cooper of Burlington, WI, and daughter of the late John Allen, one of Cook county's early settlers, died yesterday at her home. She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Florence Hall of Burlington, WI, Mrs. Lucius Perkins of Colorado Springs, CO. Jeannette Cooper and Evelyn Cooper of Chicago, and one son, Henry Allen Cooper of Racine, WI a representative in Congress for that state. Mrs. Cooper was a sister of Mrs. James Frake of the board of Education of this city and of Jesse M. Allen, formerly of Chicago.
