We are grieved to note the death of little
Florence Perkins, aged nine years and six months, only daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. PERKINS, who died
of diphtheria on New Year's morning at 2:30 o'clock. This is the second
daughter that has been taken them by this dread disease within the past
year, Nellie Perkins, a bright little girl,
aged 12 years, falling a victim to it in February last. The bereaved
parents have the deep sympathy of their many friends in this community in
their sad bereavement. The funeral of Florence took place on Friday from
the Episcopal church, and was attended by a large concourse of people. Morris Tribune - Morris, Stevens Co., MN - July 8th, 1880

GEORGE W. PERKINS,
who died last week was the youngest bank president in New York, being
thirty-nine years of age at his death. He was the controlling spirit in
the brilliant Richmond and Danville campaign of two years ago, and upon
the inauguration of the Georgia Pacific, scheme sold his Danville stock
and bought heavily in the new company. He was a strong believer in
Southern investment. There were four Perkins brothers, all of whom were
bankers. Their home was Athens, PA, and they came to New York poor, but
thrifty and energetic, and each amassed a fortune. Mr. Perkins early death
is the type of many such in New York. He worked himself to death, and when
his system was broken took rest in spasms of travel. He leaves a fortune
of about 3,000,000, but that done compensate for dying at thirty-nine. Mower County Transcript - Lansing, Mower Co., MN - March 25th, 1885

JUDGE A. D. PERKINS,
who died at Windom suddenly a few days since was a man for whom we had
personally great respect. He was judge of the thirteenth judicial district
and distinguished himself as an able and impartial jurist. His conscience
told him that the Lord had special work for him and he resigned his office
as judge and devoted his time, money and talents to Sunday school and
church work. We heard him say once in a public meeting: "I would rather
travel through this county from house to house doing good to men than sit
on the bench where I do not seem to be able to benefit the souls of men."
Such men are blessing to any community and their loss is always keenly
felt. The Saint Paul Globe - St. Paul, Ramsey Co., MN - January 15th, 1899 FOLLOWED HER TO THE GRAVE

the past thirteen years, he has been a faithful member of Trinity M. E.
church, never missing a service when able to attend. His face will be
greatly missed by the host of friends. "Daddy" as he was familiarly
called, was beloved by all who knew him. Two sons and a daughter survive
him, George A. Perkins and William H. Perkins of
Minneapolis, and Mrs. W. R. Baxter of Ortonville, Iowa. The funeral will
take place from Trinity M. E. church, Twenty-fifth avenue and Taylor
street, northeast, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Stewart Tribune - Stewart, McLeod Co., MN - March 20th, 1905 - VETERAN PIONEER GONE Death of Capt. Calvin N. Perkins. A Veteran of the Civil War and Pioneer Settler Capt. CALVIN N. PERKINS passed away last Saturday evening, March, 23rd, 1905, at the Perkins home north of Stewart, MN. Capt. Perkins suffered a severe stroke of paralysis about three years ago, and since that time had been in feeble health. Though his death was not due to a final paralytic stroke, the former one, which left him in a weakened condition, was probably indirectly the cause of his death. Mr. Perkins had resided on the old homestead in Collins, MN for more than a quarter of a century, he and Mrs. Perkins having made their home there with their son, H. W. Perkins, and wife, for many years past. Mr. Perkins was one of the gallant boys in blue, and his army record is indeed a proud one. He served with distinction in many of the hardest fought battles of the great Rebellion. During the nearly three years that he served in the Army of the Potomac, he was never absent from an engagement, and was never away on furlough. Since 1884 he had been a member of Lytle Post D. of M. G. A. R., and was a past Commander and honored member of the Post at the time of his death. By many friends, as well as Grand Army Comrades, who have known him for years, Capt. Perkins was honored and respected for his many sterling qualities, for his patriotism and public spirit, and for gallant services rendered, and personal sacrifices made for his country. Many are the friends who sympathize with the relatives in their loss. We quote from a biographical sketch contained in the "Album of Biography of McLeod County, MN" - **etc..

of McLeod County, MN is quoted verbatim** The Minneapolis Journal - Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., MN - July 30th, 1906 SPEARFISH, S. D.
W. B. PERKINS, died in
this city after a long illness, aged 73 years. He leaves two daughters and
one son, a merchant of Lead City The Long Prairie Leader - Long Prairie, MN - October 18th, 1906
FRED L. PERKINS, died at his home on Round Prairie Saturday
afternoon. Death was the result of a recent paralytic stroke and attendant
complications. He had been ill about two months. The funeral was held from
the Presbyterian church Monday afternoon. Rev. C. H. Fleming officiating.
The interment took place at the local cemetery. Mr. Perkins was born in
New York in 1848 and when a boy moved with his parents to Minneapolis.
They remained in that city but a short time however, and then moved to
Lakeville, Dakota county, this state, where the family resided for many
years. At this place, Mrs. Perkins was married to Miss
MARTHA L. HARRISON and they moved to
Alabama where at Decatur, Mr. Perkins went into the milling business. In
1889 while on a visit to Minnesota, Mrs. Perkins died and a short time
after, the family moved back to Minnesota and settled at Farmington. They
remained at Farmington eight years and then came to Todd county and bought
a farm in Round Prairie they now occupy. In 1898, Mr. Perkins was married
to Miss LUCINTHIA CURTIS who survives
him. Of the children, there are four, Robert Perkins, now grown to a young
man hood, is a student in the medical department of Hamline University and
three younger children born of the second marriage. They are Alva
Perkins, Lillian Perkins and Paul Perkins. Mr. Perkins was one
of those quiet and modest men whose actions rather than their words
proclaim them to be the good citizens that they are. In his death the
community where he resided loses a good neighbor and honorable citizen.
The Leader extends its sympathy to the bereaved family.

Mrs. Ellen M. Perkins -
Ellen M. Wight was born at Buckland, MA, Dec. 21st, 1831, and was
therefore 75 years and 21 days of age at the time of her death. She lived
with her parents at Buckland, MN until her marriage on July 23rd, 1851, to
Calvin N. Perkins and thereafter until their removal to Hampton, MA in
1865. IN August 1876, Mr. and Mrs. Perkins removed to this state, settling
at Lakeville, Dakota Co., MN. They lived there two years and then moved to
this county, settling on the farm 3 miles north of Stewart, MN where the
family has since lived. Mrs. Perkins is survived by one sister, Mrs. E. E.
Wood of Northampton, MA, and two children, Mrs. A. C. Carpenter of
Hutchinson, and H. W. Perkins, who lives on the old place. One child,
Calvin Judson Perkins, born Dec. 8th, 1852, died in 1869. Mrs. Perkins
health had been poor for a good many years, she having been afflicted with
asthma, but she was only taken seriously ill about nine days previous to
her death. She was up and about this house to the day before her death,
walking to her bed room on Thursday evening. Death occurred about 4
o'clock Friday morning. She passed off peacefully without any apparent
suffering. Mrs. Perkins was a member of the Methodist church and an
earnest Christian woman. She was beloved by the members of her family and
all who enjoyed a close acquaintance with her, and was respected by all
who knew her. The funeral was held at the home last Sunday morning at 10
o'clock, Rev. J . S. Kettlewell of Steward, MN officiating, and the
remains were taken to Hutchinson for interment beside the body of her
husband, who preceded her to the grave March 14th, 1903. Source: History of Sterns Co., Minnesota by: William B. Mitchell (1915) - October 20th, 1914
