ERASTUS G. PERKINS

Erastus Gidden Perkins b.1822 Orange Co., VT d.8.6.1889 Winterset, IA. Son of (Jared & Clarissa (Gidden) Perkins). His wife ROSETTA (MERRILL \ MIRRILL). He removed from Vermont with his parents to Sullivan Co., NH and was educated at the Newberry Seminary, VT. He removed to New York City and Washington, D.C. In 1851 he moved to Lincoln Township, Madison Co., IA. He returned to New Hampshire for six years and returned to Lincoln, Township, Madison Co., IA for 10 years. He then settled at Jackson township, Madison Co., IA. They had six children, 5 living.

His wife m. 7.22.1840 at Wheelock, VT; SARAH ANN (DWIGHT) b.12.17.1819 Montreal, Canada. He removed from VT to Montreal, Canada where he was a Merchant. They also lived at Buffalo, Erie Co., NY and Boston, MA. He died at Baton Rouge, LA. His wife removed to Detroit, Wayne Co., MI where she became the Principal of "The Duffield Union School".
