LUTHER PERKINS, died at Perkinsville February 3rd, aged 79 years and 10 months. His death occurred just one year and a few hours from the death of William Payne; between their deaths no other death occurred in Perkinsville or the immediate neighborhood. Mr. Perkins was born about three-fourths of a mile from the village, and spent his days either there or on the place where he died, with the exception of a short time before his marriage. He united with the Baptist church April 27th, 1844, and was a good church member and citizen. February 6th, 1877 was the golden anniversary of his marriage to BETSEY WOOD of Rindge, N. H., which was celebrated by friends and neighbors, the first event of the kind ever celebrated in Perkinsville. Two or three of Mrs. P's sisters with their husbands reached the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage, one of them being Mrs. Z. Parker of Ludlow.
