1886 - March 25th - The Courier - Brookfield, Madison Co., NY
Mrs. Susan C. Perkins
died March 25th, 1886. She had been in feeble health for nearly a year,
having had at different times light strokes of paralysis, and at last was
confined to her bed, where she has been tenderly cared for by a loving son
and his wife. Mrs. Perkins was for many years a resident of New Berlin, NY
and came to make her home among us four years ago. She was a very highly
respected Christian lady. She was 65 years of age. She was a member of the
Baptist church and was buried from the residence of her son,
R. D. Perkins, on Sunday afternoon. The
services were conducted by Rev. R. J. Thompson, assisted by Rev. A. E.

Mr. Philander Perkins,
commonly known here as "Skip" Perkins, died at Norwich last Friday. 1892: March 23rd - The Courier - Brookfield, Madison Co., NY Mar. 21st: Mrs.
Martha Perkins died the 16th inst., after a
few days illness with pneumonia and the grip. The funeral was held at the
house Friday, Rev. Mr. Silcox, of Waterville, NY officiating. 1896: July 20th - The Courier - Brookfield, Madison Co., NY The death of Mrs.
Julia R. Perkins, relict of the late Allen M.
Perkins, occurred Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. C. W. Stoddard, of Bridgewater. Mrs. Perkins was

Mr. Edgar Perkins
died at his farm home near the river bridge in Columbus, NY Sunday last.
Mr. Perkins has been in poor health for some time. Only the day before he
consulted a doctor in New Berlin, NY. His death was caused from heart
failure. He leaves a wife and two sons. 1908: May 27th - The Courier - Brookfield, Madison Co., NY Mr. Lewis Perkins died
at his home about two Same paper: Lewis Perkins, who has for
many years lived about half way between Hubbardsville and No. Brookfield
passed quietly away Saturday after a short illness. Mr. Perkins was
a soldier and pensioner, a quite inoffensive man well liked by his
neighbors; he leaves no family. 1919: May 14th - The Courier, Madison Co., Brookfield, N.Y.
Mr. Silas J.
Perkins - Following ill health all winter, Silas Perkins died at
his home at Unadilla Forks, NY about 8 o'clock. He was a veteran of the
Civil War, and since he lived in that place, had won a place as an upright
citizen and good neighbor. He was born at Knoxboro, Oneida Co., NY, Jan. 25th, 1833.
He was educated at the schools in the vicinity, and then learned the
business of farming, which he followed all his life. In 1862 he enlisted
in Company K, 117th New York volunteers. He served in the army of the
Potomac under Col. Daggett. While in an encampment in front of Richmond,
the thumb of his left hand was shot off and a piece of shell struck him in
the forehead. He was in several hot engagements, but during all the
service he spent only four weeks in a hospital. He was mustered out and
honorably discharged May 27th, 1865. His first farming was at Brookfield,
NY and afterward at Leonardsville, NY. In 1890 he became a resident of
Plainfield, NY, where he remained until a few years since, when he took up
his residence in Unadilla Forks, NY. He was a member of the Baptist church
in that village. For some years he was a member of Brookfield Post, G. A.
R., No. 448. He married Miss Mary E. Perkins
of Knoxboro, Oneida Co., NY, March 19th, 1855. She survives with the following
children; Adelbert Perkins of Michigan, Mrs.
Rosa Helmer of New Hartford, Mrs. Lillian Briggs of Exeter, Mrs. Ella
McIntyre of New Hartford, and Emery H. Perkins
of West Winfield. The deceased was all his active life a very hard
working, industrious man. In the army he served faithfully, having the
good opinion of his associates and officers. He lived an upright,
honorable life, earning and receiving the esteem and respect of all who
knew him. He was a good citizen, a firm friend and a kind neighbor. In
later years poor health overtook him, but his declining days were
made as comfortable as possible. He was very generally esteemed in the
community where he lived. 1928: April 4th - The Courier - Brookfield, Madison Co., NY.
Mrs. William Perkins,
died at her home on Hackley Street after a long illness on Thursday last.
Her funeral was held Saturday from her late home, conducted by Rev. R. W.
Roberts, Interment in the local cemetery. We extend our sympathy to the
family in their hour of sorrow.

Mrs. Allie E.
Case Perkins, 74, died of a heart attack yesterday morning, Jan.
5th, at the Lewis County Hospital, Lowville, NY. She was taken ill Monday
evening and went to the hospital that night. Mrs. Perkins was born on a
farm in the town of Turin, NY, June 8th, 1863, daughter of the late
Roderick and Amanda Hubbard Case. She married Girard
Perkins in Aug., 1881. They lived in New York, Philadelphia,
Waterloo, and for the past 15 years in Brookfield, NY. Mr. Perkins died
just a year ago, Jan. 5th. For the past year Mrs. Perkins has been staying
with relatives. At the time of her death she was residing with her niece,
Mrs. Geo. W. Colegrove, Turin, NY. Funeral services will be held at 10:30
Friday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Colegrove in Turin, and
at 1:30 at the Brookfield Cemetery. 1938: Jan. 5th - The Brookfield Courier - Brookfield, Madison Co., NY.
Mr. Emmett E. Perkins
died at his home west of Brookfield, NY on Sunday. He had been ill
for several months with a heart ailment. He was born at Stockbridge,
Madison Co., NY, March 15th, 1865, son of Eli and
Sarah Perkins. He married Charlotte Abrams, Feb. 20th, 1887. He is
survived by his wife; a son, Eugene Perkins
of Brookfield, NY; a daughter, Mrs. Vera Waterman of Oriskany Falls, NY; a
sister, Mrs. Sarah Smart of Oriskany Falls, NY; a half-sister, Mrs.
Charles Cook of Utica, NY; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted
by Rev. Carlton J. Frazier. Harry Mumbulo was funeral director. Mr.
Perkins had spent most of his life in this town and was highly respected
by all. He was a member of Western Star Lodge, No. 15, F. & A. M. 1948: May 6th - The Brookfield Courier - Brookfield, Madison Co., NY TWINS NOTE 88th BIRTHDAY William Silas Perkins, Brookfield, NY and Mrs. Lillian Perkins Briggs, Clayville, NY, twin children of the late Silas and Mary Perkins, Unadilla Forks, NY, celebrated their 88th birthday Monday. William Silas
Perkins married Ida E. Clark in 1890 in Leonardsville, NY. Mrs.
Perkins died about 20 years 1965: Feb. 25th - The Courier - Brookfield, Madison Co., NY Mrs. Bertha May Perkins, 76, widow of Walter Perkins, died Feb. 19th, in the Julia Martin Nursing Home, Hamilton. She was born in Liberty, daughter of DeLos and Emma Barber. Mr. Perkins died in 1953. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. James Lambert, Hamilton, and a son, Ian Perkins, Walton. The funeral was Monday from the Henry W. Beecher Funeral Home, with Rev. Irving Hill, pastor of Park Methodist Church officiating. Same paper: Mr. and Mrs. William Robinson, Mr. and
Mrs. Adelbert Perkins of Leonardsville, Mrs.
Carol Martin called at the Funeral home in Hamilton to pay their respects
to the late Mrs. Bertha Perkins. Mrs. Mary Elizabeth
Perkins, 66, wife of Adelbert Perkins,
died Monday, Sept. 5th, in Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY. She was born
in Brookfield, NY, daughter of Fred and Mary Davis
Perkins. She was married to Mr. Perkins in 1915 in West Winfield.
Mrs. Perkins was a member of the First Baptist Church and its D of K.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Roger Perkins, of West Edmeston; a
sister, Mrs. Ida Walker of Waterville, and a brother,
Edward Perkins of Edmeston. The funeral was
Wednesday from the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Walker,
pastor, officiating. Burial was in Unadilla Forks Cemetery. |
