Vermont Probate Records on
Calvin Perkins state that Catherine Perkins, widow of Calvin Perkins was to
pay (widow) Eunice (Bothwell) the sum of $250.00 to be paid at $25.00 per
year until the total amount of $250.00 was paid to her. This money was paid
to her to in "Consideration of her Dower rights". It was stated that
Catherine Perkins would sign a quit claim deed giving Eunice Bothwell "All
the rights she has of Dower in the Mac Farland Farm located in
Northcumberland, Coos Co., New Hampshire". In 1816 Catherine Perkins and her
lawyer David Denison petitioned the court with an appeal, that they have
agreed to have said "controversy" settled between themselves as
administrators of the estate of Calvin Perkins and the "Widow Eunice
Bothwell of Northcumberland in the county of Coos and the state of New
Hampshire". Through her lawyers, Eunice Bothwell accepted the payment
agreement. Also in 1816, attorney David Denison petitioned the court to
state that there was not enough money left in the estate to cover all
expenses. The court ordered that they sell land to settle his estate. The
estate was finally discharged in 1818. |
