| 1930: Jan-March Jan. 10th: Mrs. Martha (Perkins) Grennon, 87, of Chicago, IL, died on Jan. 5th. She was the daughter of Cyrus G. and Angeline (Barnes) Perkins, and a sister of the late Mrs. Waldo W. Willson of Potsdam, NY. Her husband, Miles Grennon died 35 years ago at Marengo, IL. She is survived by three daughters, two sons, several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one half brother, Mr. Fred Perkins of Woodstock, IL and a nephew, Dr. William H. Willson of Quogue, L.I. A niece, Mrs. Benjamin M. Kip of Canton, NY. *Also See:
      Leonard Barnes Perkins 1930: Jan-March Jan. 24th: Mr. Isaac Roberts, died. He was 
      born Aug. 1862 at Devenport, England, son of Isaac and Charlotte (Goulden) 
      Roberts. He came to this country when 11 years of age. The family lived in 
      New York and Pennsylvania. He removed to Parishville, NY in 1873 where he 
      remained 20 years. Then removed to Pleasant Valley, NY. He married in 
      1894, Miss Clara Perkins in Potsdam, NY. She died in 1913. He is survived 
      by three sons, Mr. Louis Roberts and Mr. Edson Roberts of this place and 
      Mr. Leonard Roberts of Irvington, N.J. Eight brothers,  Mr. John F. 
      Roberts of Rochester, Ohio, Dr. G.J. Roberts of Westminster, Ohio, Mr. 
      Samuel B. Roberts of Millville, N.J., Mr. Joshua Roberts of Irvington, N.J, 
      Mr. Richard H. Roberts of Detroit, MI, Mr. Fred W. Roberts of Canton, N.Y. 
      and Prof. A.N. Roberts of Potsdam, NY and Mr. B. E. Roberts of Spencer, 
      MA. 1931: Jan-March March 4th: Mrs. Martha A. Perkins, 87, died 
      at the home of her son, Francis L. Perkins at Boonville, NY. She was the 
      daughter of Justin and Emily Long, and was born Sept. 2nd, 1848 at Colton, 
      NY. She married May 26th, 1880 to Edson M. Perkins 
      of Parishville, NY. 
      They later moved to Potsdam, NY. Her son is her only survivor. Burial at 
      Parishville Cemetery. 1931: April-June June 5th: Mrs. Hildegard Perkins, wife of 
      Howard Perkins, died on May 30th at Syracuse, NY. Mrs. Perkins was the 
      daughter of Mr. & Mrs. R. J. LaLone. She was born May 7th, 1908. 
      Mr. & 
      Mrs. Perkins were married at Tupper lake on July 9th, 1925. She is survived 
      by her husband, parents and a brother Chris and an Aunt, Mrs. Mulligan. 1833: July-Sept. July 14th: There has been no trace of 
      Mr. 
      Howard Perkins, aged 75, missing for a week. Mr. Perkins
      started out last 
      week Wednesday for a fishing trip. He failed to return at night but, his 
      son Herbert Perkins was not alarmed, as his father had been accustomed at 
      times to spend the night in the woods. A group of thirty to fifty men have 
      been searching the woods to no avail. His doctor had warned him not to 
      venture to far into the woods, concerned about his heart condition. 1933: Oct-Dec. Dec. 29th: Mrs. Mabel Perkins of Saranac 
      Lake, NY, died Sunday, Dec. 3rd. She was born in Sullivan, Madison Co., NY 
      on March 14, 1878, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Clouter. She married 
      Wilson 
      N. Perkins on Dec. 28th, 1905. She is survived by her husband, and one 
      son, Hubert Perkins of Syracuse, NY. A brother, Fred Clouter of 
      Chittenango Station, NY. Mr. & Mrs. Perkins
      were residents of Winthrop, NY 
      during 1915-1917 when Mr. Perkins was the Principal of the Brasher and 
      Stockholm High School. Mr. Perkins is now supervising principal of the 
      Central School District of Broadalbin, NY. 1934: March-April March 30th: Mr. James Edward Joyce, 78, 
      died. He was the son of Alexander and Margaret Joyce. He was twice 
      married, his second wife, Miss Nella A. Perkins of Potsdam, NY who he 
      married at Chicago, IL in 1893. Mr. Joyce was a farmer for some years in 
      Wisconsin. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert Kirkey and three 
      sons, Mr. Leon Joyce, Mr. Harry Joyce and Mr. Merton Joyce.

      April 6th: Mr. George Perkins, 45, died. 
      Resident of Potsdam, NY. He was a native of Ogdensburg, NY. He was a well 
      known baseball player and played on various teams in North Diamond League. 
      He is survived by his wife and ten children, two of them residents of 
      Potsdam, NY. 1935: April-June April 26th: Mr. Henry Nicholas Blum of 
      Syracuse, NY announces the marriage of his daughter, Caroline Clara, to 
      Mr. Bernard Charles Perkins on April 20th at St. Lucy's Church, Syracuse, 
      NY. Mr. Perkins is the son of Mrs. Margaret (Mullin) Perkins
      and the late 
      George Perkins, former residents of this village. They were attended by 
      Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Perkins, brother of the groom. 1936: Oct.-Dec. Nov. 27th: Mrs. Fannie M. Benton Nicholas, 
      died. Daughter of Elihu and Fannie (Perkins) Benton. She was born Oct. 
      20th, 1851 at Stockholm, NY. She was married to Martin G. Nicholas on Dec. 
      29th, 1874. Mr. Nicholas died Aug. 28th, 1914. Two children, a son an a 
      daughter were born to them. The daughter, Musa M. Nicholas, now Mrs. Fred 
      Holland is living. 1937: Jan-March Feb. 5th: Mrs. Silas Lucas, 78, died. 
      Mrs. Salom (Perkins) Lucus, daughter of 
      John and Orinda (Cutting) Perkins. She 
      was born in the Picketville neighborhood. She was married to Silas Lucas 
      more then 50 years ago. Five children were born to them, but lost their 
      two daughters the last two or three years. Three sons survive, Mr. Homer 
      Lucas, Mr. Howard Lucas and Mr. Floyd Lucas. Mr. Lucas died a little over 
      a year ago. 1937: Oct-Dec. Oct 1st: Mrs. Jennie St. Dennis Perkins 
      Hooley, 74, died Sept 24th. Mrs. Hooley was born in Hogansburg, NY  
      on July 25th, 1863, daughter of John & Sarah (McEwen) St. Dennis. When a 
      child she moved with her parents to Colton, NY and at the age of 20 she 
      married John Perkins of this place. Mr. and 
      Mrs. Perkins lived on a farm 
      until 1917 when Mr. Perkins started West with two of their children. He 
      was stricken with fever at Little Rock, Ark and died, the children 
      returned home. Mrs. Perkins was then married to Mr. John Hooley of Colton, 
      NY in 1920. Besides her husband, she is survived by six sons, 
      John Perkins 
      Jr. of Avon, NY,  Harold Perkins of Canton, NY, 
      Glenn Perkins and 
      Manning Perkins both in Berkshire, CA, Floyd Perkins
      at Sackets Harbor, 
      NY, Walter Perkins at Carthage, NY. Three daughters, Mrs. Roy Dailey of 
      Carthage, NY, Mrs. Bert Falardo and Mrs. Grant Henderson of Rochester, NY. 
      Two sisters, Mrs. Hixton Salls of Childwood, NY and Mrs. Anna Richardson 
      of Norfolk, NY. Two brothers, Robert St. Dennis of Saskatchewan, Canada 
      and Bert St. Dennis. 1938: July-Sept. Aug. 12th: Mr. Henry M. Minkler, died. He 
      was born Sept. 15th, 1859 at Massena, NY, son of Henry B. and Eliza (Stowell) 
      Minkler. At age 16 he worked on the farm of W. K. Stowell on the 
      Potsdam-Norwood rd. On Dec. 25, 1932 he married a foster daughter of Mr. 
      Stowell. Mrs. Minkler died July 1st, 1932. He came to reside with his 
      son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. George Holmes. He is survived by two 
      daughters, the above named and Mrs. Fred Hale. One son, Milton Minkler of 
      Chicago, IL, one sister, Mrs. Frank Perkins of Rutland, VT. 1942: Jan-March Jan. 9th: Mrs. Elma Gustin, 88, died at the 
      home of her daughter, Mrs. Page Cole. She was born Oct. 23rd, 1853 in 
      Stockholm, NY, daughter of Amos and Philetta (Johnson) Perkins. On Dec. 
      5th, 1883 she married Mr. Amos Gustin. The next thirty years were spent in 
      Colton, NY where their daughter, Hazel Gustin was born and where Mr. 
      Gustin passed away. Survivors besides her daughter, are two 
      grand-children, Mrs. Merlin Day of Massena, NY and Miss Iona Cole of 
      Whitetail, NY. Two step-grandchildren, Fritz Gustin and Mrs. Harry 
      Chamberlin, a niece, Mrs. Myrtle Bullia, 5 great-nieces and nephews, Mrs. 
      Kenneth Wadleigh, Mrs. Homer Reed, and Claude Bullis, Conrad Foster and 
      Charles Foster. | 1939: Jan-March 
      Feb. 3rd: The 46th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. 
      and Mrs. Morris Page, took place Jan. 26th. More than 100 guests gathered. 
      Their five daughters arranged the affair. It was interesting to recall in 
      connection with this party, that the Page family lived on one of the few 
      old homesteads, which as been continually occupied by descendants of the 
      man who originally bought it, that being Mr. John Perkins, his wife and 
      their seven children who came here from Vermont in 1828. They drove their 
      oxen and household goods all the way, traveling with several other 
      families. Mr. John Perkins was the grand-father of Mrs. Page, and one of 
      the small children in the party was Mr. James Perkins, her father, then 
      only 8 years of age. On June 30th, 1831, John Perkins purchased the 
      present farm, where the Page's live from Mr. George Parish. On the 9th of 
      April, 1850, John Perkins deeded the farm to James Perkins 
      his son and father of Mrs. Page. He in-turn, gave a deed of the farm to 
      Mr. & Mrs. Page. Here they have lived ever since their marriage, raising 
      their five daughters. Thus four generations have lived and worked on their 
      acres, content and prosperous. The farm is located a couple of miles out 
      on the Old Straight Road. The five daughters are graduates of High School 
      and the Potsdam Normal. Miss Leah Page married Mr. A. Groebler, Ivah Page- 
      Mrs. Jordan is now widowed, Miss Gladys Page is away, Miss Florence Page 
      and Miss Harriet Page are present at home. May Morris and 
      Bertha (Perkins) Page celebrate many more happy returns of their Wedding 
      Anniversary. 1946: July-Sept. Aug. 16th: Mr. Morris Page, died. He was 
      born Nov. 4th, 1866 at West Stockholm, NY, son of Philetus and Harriet 
      (Felton) Page. He married Jan. 26th, 1892, Miss Bertha Perkins. Besides 
      his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Walter (Gladys) Bloss, 
      Mrs. Iva Jordan, Mrs. Albert (Leah) Groebler, Miss Florence Page and Miss 
      Harriet Page still at home. One sister, Mrs. Ophelia Munson. 1948: Oct.-Dec. Dec. 29th: Mrs. Margaret Mullin Perkins, 59, 
      widow of Mr. George J. Perkins, died. She was born Oct. 13th, 1889 in 
      Potsdam, NY, daughter of Thomas and Kate (Hurley) Mullin. Her marriage to 
      Mr. George Joseph Perkins took place on June 2nd, 1909. She is survived by 
      her mother, Mrs. Katherine Mullin, five daughters, Marjorie 
      Perkins, Ruth Perkins, 
      Irene Perkins, 
      Lois Perkins and Katherine
      Perkins, all at home. Robert Perkins and 
      Bernard 
      Perkins of Syracuse, NY, Lawrence Perkins and 
      Kenneth Perkins both of Pavillion, NY and 
      Lloyd Perkins of Canton, NY. 
      Miss Irene Perkins, a 
      daughter was to have been married to Mr. Richard Murphy, son of Elmer J. 
      Murphy on Monday, has been postponed indefinitely. 1949: Jan-March March 30th: Mr. Herbert Lawrence Perkins, 
      68, died. He was born in South Colton, NY on April 29th, 1880, son of 
      Mr. 
      & Mrs. Hosea Perkins. He married Lena Horton in October, 1903. 
      Mrs. 
      Perkins died May 21st, 1944. He is survived by his three sons, 
      Hugh 
      Perkins of Brown Bridge, NY, Lawrence Perkins of South Colton, NY and 
      Frank Perkins of Chasm Falls, NY. 1949: April-June May 25th: Mrs. Katherine (Hurley) Mullen, 
      78, died. She was born July 14th, 1870, daughter of Dennis and Margaret 
      (Madden) Hurley. About 61 years ago, she was married to Thomas Mullen who 
      died July 2nd, 1937. She is survived by two sisters, Jennie and Julia 
      Hurley. Their only daughter, Mrs. Margaret Perkins, died in Dec. 1948.
