1929: Jan-March

Jan. 25th: Miss Abby Perkins, died, Jan. 18th. She was born Jan. 12th, 1847, the youngest daughter of Horace and Emily (Hoyt) Perkins. To write the story of her life is but a repetition of that of her sister, Miss Ellen Perkins, who preceded her in death barely a fortnight ago. For eighty years these woman lived together, scarcely even being separated for a day. To pass nearly a century in such congenial and sympathetic companionship as existed between sisters, is some thing more then ordinary. In by gone days Miss Ellen, the Elder sister, strove to bear the heaviest burdens and spare the other frailer one as far as possible. But she broke down at last and the younger woman, after passing her eightieth year, assumed burdens too heavy for both body and spirit. Miss Abby was always the more aggressive one. The services were nearly as possible like those of her sister two weeks earlier. They were mutually true and faithful in life and in their death they were not divided. They are survived by no kin. They Hoyt families and others in the far west, friends and neighbors have given them kind and watchful attention for many years. Mr. and  Mrs. James Crandall of Hannawa, NY, attended, being distant relatives.
