1920: April-June

April 22nd: Mr. John Perkins, 82, died April 14th. Civil War Veteran, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. M. McNeil. He was born in Worcester, England, having come to this country when a young man. He was a member of Company A, 20th N.Y. Cavalry. He has lately resided at the home of his daughter, his wife having died several years ago. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. McNeil and one son, George Perkins who resides in Montana, and five grand-children, Fay, Mildred, Claude & Gilbert and Roy McNeil. Burial at Liberty Cemetery.

June 24th: Mr. George W. Perkins, 58, died June 18th. Mr. Perkins worked his self up from a poor boy to become Vice-President of the New York Life Insurance Company and later to be a partner of J.P. Morgan. He was one of the strongest friends of the late Col. Theodore Roosevelt.

June 18th: Mr. George Walbridge Perkins died. He was born in Chicago, IL in 1862, a descendant of Jacob Perkins an English ancestor who settled in Boston, MA in 1631. His father, George W. Perkins was long engaged in the shipping industry at Buffalo, NY and later a pioneer in the life insurance field. Mr. Perkins married in 1889 Miss Eveline Ball, daughter of Flaman Ball of Cleveland, OH; of whom two children were born, George W. Perkins Jr. and Mrs. (Dorothy) Edward Freeman. His sister Emily Perkins was present at his death.

Nov. 24th: Mr. William McConnell, 74, died Nov. 18th. Son of John & Margaret McConnell. He was twice married, first to Miss Alda Northup and to this union were born three children, Mrs. Levi Perkins of Detroit, MI, Mr. John McConnell of Utica and Miss Edla McConnell who died 20 years ago. He was married again to Miss Anna Harris who survives him.

1923: April-June

Mrs. Avery Emerson received word of the death of her sister, Mrs. Roland Evans, which occurred at the home of her son, Jay Evans at Lincoln, Nebraska April 10th. Mrs. Evans was formerly Miss Emma Perkins of this town. She was born July 25th, 1843 on the old homestead east of this village, she was united in marriage Sept. 2nd, 1876 to Mr. Roland Evans, who's death occurred some time ago. She leaves behind the son above mentioned, one daughter, Mrs. Robert Wright of Blue Springs, Neb, one sister, Mrs. Avery Emerson, three brothers, Mr. Levi Perkins of Los Angeles, Calf and Dwight Perkins of Boise City, Idaho, and Meade Perkins of Rochester, NY. This makes the second death in a year for the family. Mrs. Meade Perkins died last October.

1924: Oct.-Dec.

Oct. 30th: Mr. James F. Dryden, 59, died. He was born at Copenhagen, NY 59 years ago, son of Charles & Lovina (Perkins) Dryden. Thirty-Two years ago he married Miss Minnie North on Sept. 8th. She died in 1911. In 1914 he married Mrs. Anna Dayton who survives him. One brother, William Dryden of Los Angeles, Calf. also survives him.

1924: Oct.-Dec.

Dec. 11th: Mrs. Jennie Miller received word of the death of her brother, Mr. Frank Case on Dec. 4th. Mr. Case was 64 years of age. He is survived by his wife and two children and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Miller, Mrs. Gerard Perkins and Mrs. Clinton Allen. One brother, Adelbert Case and two step-sisters, Mrs. Noah Whittlesesy and Mrs. Walter Dorn.

Jan. 8th: Mrs. Alfred G. Norton, 66, of Greig, NY, died. She was the daughter of Edwin and Melissa (Moulton) Perkins. Forty years ago she married Adelbert G. Norton. Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Arthur Tucker, Mrs. Olive Salmons , Mrs. Seth Burdick and Mrs. Sterling Patterson all of Greig, NY. Nine grand-children and two great-grandchildren, one brother, Mr. Frank Perkins and one sister, Mrs. Inez Roberts of Turin, NY. Burial at Old Glendale Cemetery.

Jan. 25th: Mrs. A. G. Norton, died Jan. 5th. She was born in Omro, WI in 1859, daughter of Edwin and Melissa (Noulton) Perkins. When two years of age she came to Lewis Co., NY with her parents. Forty years ago she was married to Adelbert G. Norton. She is survived by four children, Mrs. Arthur Tucker, Mrs. O. J. Salmon, Mrs. Seth Burdick and Mrs. Sterlyn Patterson and one adopted son, Edwin Betts. Nine grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ina Roberts of Greig, NY and one brother Mr. Frank Perkins of Rochester, NY.

1925: July-Sept.

Aug. 13th: Mr. Anthony Frank, 80, died. He was born in Baden, Germany on Jan. 7th, 1845 and came with his parents to this country. He died on the farm where he spent his entire life. In 1870 he was married to Miss Katherine Deis at Mohawk Hill. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children, Semon Frank, Mrs. Michael Kapfer, Mrs. Anthony Frank, Mr. Fred Frank, also four grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Powell of Utica, NY and Mrs. Magdalena Ely of Rome, NY and Mrs. Kate Perkins of Rome, NY.

1925: Oct.-Dec.

Dec. 3rd: Mrs. Ina Roberts, died at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Enright Roberts of Boonville, NY. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Perkins. She was twice married, her first husband being Mr. George Abbey. One son of this union, Cecil Abbey. After the death of Mr. Abbey she married Mr. Richard Roberts who died two years ago.

1926: Jan-March

Jan. 21st: Mr. Robert McNeil, who enlisted in the Civil War as a drummer boy, died. Mr. McNeil was a son of Mr. & Mrs. (Laughlen) McNeil and was born in Canada Sept. 6th, 1845. When a child his family moved to Lewis County New York. The deceased enlisted in Company C, 186th New York Infantry 9th Corps. He removed to Lowville, NY several years ago. Mr. McNeil married Miss Mary Perkins in 1895 who survives him with four sons and one daughter. Fay McNeil of Montague, Roy McNeil of Glenfield, Gilbert McNeil of Claude and Mildred McNeil of Lowville, and three brothers and one sister who resided in the west.

Edwin F. Perkins died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. H. Roberts, Turin, NY, aged 74.

Mrs. Ameila Hills, died, Sept. 23rd. She was born Miss Ameila Ann Gaylord on March 3rd. 1846, oldest child of Edwin and Lydia Ann (Knowlton) Gaylord. She married Dec. 20th, 1865, Mr. Ansel A. Hills who died June 29th, 1912. To this union four children were born, the eldest of whom, Mrs. Estelle Hills Skinner, died Feb. 18th, 1893. Besides the two daughters and the son, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Emma J. Perkins of Boulder, Colorado and one brother, Harvey Gaylord of Turin, NY. Three grand-daughters, Mrs. Walter Gates and Mrs. Fred Scholl of Syracuse and Miss Doris M. Hills of this place. Two grand-sons, Le Roy Skinner and Stanly Johnson of Syracuse, NY.

Mr. Charles Moffett, died. He was born Sept. 29th, 1848 at Brownville, son of George and Rebecca (Perkins) Moffett. Early in life he moved to Montague and then later in life to Lowville, NY. He married twice, his first wife Miss Catherine Fogarty who died 35 years ago. Later he married Mrs. Minnie (Edick) Post, who survives him and a step-son, Glenn and one brother, Benjamin Moffett.

Feb. 24th: Dr. Gordon Jacobs, died. He was born at East Rodman, NY, son of Albert Jacobs. His wife was Miss Evelyn Perkins, daughter of Mr. Frank C. Perkins of Buffalo, NY. He is survived by his wife, one son, Gordon Jacobs Jr., his mother and one brother, Sedwick Jacobs of Copenhagen, NY.
