This volume, covering the surnames Hicock through Holdren, is the latest in Mr. Edmondson’s ongoing series of Revolutionary War pension abstracts. Originally begun by Helen M. Lu, the project has provided access to countless family Bible and marriage records contained in Revolutionary War pension claim files. Widows’ pension applications, of course, are especially likely to include such original documents since proof of marriage to the deceased soldier was required. Each volume in this series contains its own index to all names listed. The earlier volumes are also still available from the compiler: Volume 1 on microfiche for $7.00; Volumes 2-18 in print for $18.00 each. A cumulative index to Volumes 1-10, with over 47,000 entries, is also available for $27.00.
