It may be he who was listed on the 1850 Census at Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT Census. He is listed alone, age 31 on the 1860 Census at Gold Hill (Lincoln), Nebraska territory. They are listed on the 1870 Census at Janesville, Rock Co., WI and on the 1880 Census at Turtle, Rock Co., WI.

NATHANIEL O. PERKINS
Nathaniel Otis Perkins b.1829 Jefferson Co., NY d.1896 Beloit, Rock Co., WI. Son of (Russell/Rusel/Rosel /Roswell b. ?  d. before 1860 & Louisa (Otis) Perkins). He was listed on the 1860 WI Census at Beloit, Rock Co., WI in the household of Ira Smith who married 1st. Jane (Simpson) m 2nd; the widow: Mrs. Louisa (Otis) Perkins. In 1870 he is listed at Beloit, Rock Co., WI with wife DELIA M. (ROBERTS). In 1880 they are listed at Quincy, Adams Co., IL. In 1857 Mr. N.O. Perkins was the owner/editor of a Republican paper called "The Beloit Times" which was later changed to the "Beloit Courier" in association with his partner Barret H. Smith under the firm of Perkins & Smith.  A newspaper consolidation occurred and the newspaper was then known as the Beloit "Journal & Courier". In 1873 Mr. N.O. Perkins changed to a position on the staff of the Milwaukee Sentinel.
